October 2, 2008No CrossFit today – went mountain biking instead
September 24, 2008Still have the pesky abdominal strain so I decided not to head into the gym and do CrossFit today, but since I was having my car being serviced at the Honda dealership on Hastings street, I brought my bike down with me (bike rack FTW). I hopped on and biked all the way up Burnaby mountain and it is always a great workout to come up here – even more of a thrill going down at full speed lol!
Also worked on my DIVA 200 panoramas some more – instead of using RL footage, I took screenshots from within World of Warcraf:

September 10, 2008So I decided to switch my major…
September 9, 2008I know, I know, I’m an idiot for doing it at this point in the semester lol, but the fact is that even though I went into the Communication Design program at Emily Carr, I had also signed up for DIVA 200 (Digital Interactive Video and Animation), with Ian Verchere, as one of my studio electives and I am exponentially more excited about this course then any of my Comm Design courses!!! That plus the fact that I had an absolute blast last spring when I took the Media Arts class with Peg Campbell – got to work with and manipulate old 16mm film stock footage, made sound recordings and loops plus I went ahead and did my own Warcraft video as well.
Everything in my body was telling me that this was the right decision to make and so I went with it. It is a risk, but a calculated risk and the reality is that I am really excited about these new courses that I will be taking. Luckily, I was able to get into the Reading the Screen class which has film screenings on Wednesday mornings and then a class seminar on Friday afternoons. I wasn’t able to get into the other courses as they were already waitlisted, but I will be able to catch up on them in the spring semester.
All in all, a pretty good day
Sunday – day to take it easy
September 8, 2008Well, Sunday had arrived and I discovered the fact that I could hardly walk after Saturday’s intense workout, doing Sasquatch. My hamstrings were so effin tight that my walking abilities were severely gimped, but to hell with it all, I got up early and went for brunch at Milestone’s – then got some coffee and droe around Port Moody /Westwood Plateau for a bit and then made my way over to Belcarra Provincial Park – man what a great place that is.
The sun was shinning and the wind was coming in off the water in a nice breeze – perfect day to walk along the beach and on to the pier. Saw 3 young boys fishing and they screamed in delight when one of them caught a guppy on the end of their line – was hilarious!
Spent a few hours out there then went home to relax my legs some more – marinated a salmon filet and I’m gonna let that sit in the fridge until Tuesday when it will be mmmmmmmmmmm good
I also watched, “We Own the Night” with Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg – a pretty good movie. I had seen it before, but just bought it as a used DVD – good script, good characters.
Friday @ Eciad
September 8, 2008After Thursday’s grueling workout, I decided to take things easy on Friday. Had Design Core Studio at 12:30-3:20 and it was meh – boring class is boring, but we shall see if things get better over the term.
Went home after class, rather than staying in town – best to rest up for Saturday morning’s workout…
Thursday @ Eciad
September 4, 2008Even though I do not have classes today, I want to endeavour myself to come to school in order to get into a positive and healthy routine so that I can learn as much as I can this year. I want to be inspired and have it reflected in my work. There are too many distractions sitting at home on my own computer and 9 times out of 10, I would simply procrastinate to no end and not get $hit done.
Today’s agenda:
- 8am Crossfit class
- drive out to Tsawwassen and buy camera from Aaron
- start posting comments on the blog
- read Design Core Studio text books
- email Carley asking what is required for tomorrow’s class
- email Ian about WoW: The Burning Addiction + Snow Crash | ask him about WoW panorama idea
-
Reminder for Tomorrow:
- go for a run around SFU in the morning
- go to Chapter’s and buy Snow Crash + Vernor Vinge’s “True Names”
-
